Buddy System - TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Buddy System (“Buddy System,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Buddy System mobile application (the “App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

By tapping “Get Started” or creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

Buddy System is a platform that allows users to:

  • Create profiles

  • Discover and connect with other outdoor enthusiasts

  • Organize and join user-created trips

  • Communicate with other users

We do not organize, supervise, guide, or control any trips.

All trips are independently organized by users.

3. Eligibility

You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have the legal capacity to enter into agreements

  • Provide accurate registration information

4. Assumption of Risk

Outdoor activities such as backcountry skiing, mountaineering, hiking, climbing, and similar pursuits are inherently dangerous and may result in:

  • Serious injury

  • Permanent disability

  • Death

  • Property damage

By using Buddy System and participating in any activity organized through the App, you:

  • Voluntarily assume all risks

  • Accept full responsibility for your safety

  • Acknowledge that other users are not verified professionals

  • Buddy System does not evaluate user skill, training, certifications, or safety practices.

5. No Professional Relationship

Buddy System does not provide:

  • Guiding services

  • Safety certification

  • Skill verification

  • Emergency response coordination

No professional, guiding, fiduciary, or supervisory relationship is created through use of the App.

6. User Responsibility

You agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for your decisions and actions

  • You will independently assess conditions, partners, and risks

  • You will carry appropriate safety equipment

  • You will comply with applicable laws and land regulations

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or harm other users

  • Misrepresent your identity, skills, experience, or qualifications

  • Post unlawful, defamatory, abusive, or otherwise harmful content

  • Use the App for commercial guiding services without prior authorization

  • Use the platform for illegal activities

  • Create accounts primarily for the purpose of sending spam, unsolicited promotions, advertisements, or marketing messages

  • Use the App to solicit products, services, donations, or other commercial opportunities unrelated to the intended purpose of the platform

  • Create or operate accounts for any non-genuine purpose, including fake profiles, impersonation, automated accounts, or accounts intended to manipulate or disrupt the community

  • Use the App in any way that is inconsistent with its intended purpose of helping users connect for outdoor recreation and adventure activities

Accounts created or used in violation of these guidelines may be suspended, restricted, or permanently removed. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to remove content, terminate accounts, or block users from accessing the App if we believe they have violated these rules or are using the platform in a way that harms the community.

8. No Verification of Users

We do not:

  • Perform background checks

  • Verify certifications

  • Guarantee user identity

  • Guarantee accuracy of user profiles

You interact with other users at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

Buddy System shall not be liable for:

  • Personal injury

  • Death

  • Property damage

  • User disputes

  • User misconduct

  • Inaccurate trip information

  • Weather or environmental conditions

Our total liability shall not exceed $100.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Buddy System from any claims arising from:

  • Your participation in activities

  • Your violation of these Terms

  • Your interactions with other users

11. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms.

You may delete your account through the App.

12. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in the State of Washington, unless otherwise required by law.

You waive the right to participate in class actions.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of changes.
