Our Story

We’ve spent a combined 50+ years skiing and snowboarding in the PNW, and love being in the mountains now more than ever. We’re fortunate to have an established group of friends who are generally aligned on how we like to explore the backcountry.

And still, getting out is harder than it should be.

Sometimes, schedules just don't line up. Other times, our buddies who are available have different goals. For example, Dan is an endurance athlete who sometimes pushes for big peak-summiting days, whereas Bryce usually prefers freeriding and building jumps in the backcountry.

When we can't find available partners from our existing social circles, we're faced with a tough dilemma. Posting in large groups seeking partners can be intimidating, and vetting properly can be challenging. On the other hand, changing plans or not going at all because we can't find partners is very disappointing.

We know we’re not alone in this. There are more endurance athletes out there. More freeriders. More people looking for trust, belonging, adventure - or some combination of all three.

That’s why we built Buddy System: to make it easier to meet compatible adventure buddies and actually get outside.
